The Guitar Men or members of the Kultura/ The Fine 3 Band, shows their excellence in guitar. You would have probably heard other bands playing The Eagles’ Hotel California but so far, this is the simplest but cleanest cover I ever heard. Unfortunately, my battery has gone dead during their play so I was not able to capture the whole song. Nevertheless, they killed the song.
Here is a video of what we are tagging as The Guitar Men. They are actually the members of the Kultura Band or Fine Three Band. They are also natives of the Cordilleras. Their good looks are “home grown”; with absolute confidence that it was not a result of “racial improvement” brought about by missionaries or caucasians as claimed by an uninformed historian recently intreviewed in a documentary that featured our another Cordilleran brother, Mr Carrot Man. We pity those missionaries who came to understand and help improve our lives; because now they are accused by a historian that they went to Cordilleras to improve our race ( Is that fair?). We strongly believe those missionaries are of high morale.
Enjoy watching The Guitar Men’s so relaxing performance. Share if you did like it.
They have been and are always untiringly performing for free on our Concert for Life Series where chronically-ill patients are being supported. Thanks for their awesome performances that keeps people coming to watch the concert and support the beneficiaries. Thanks also to other bands and solo performers who are working with us. We hope many more talented people be like you.
BUILDING DREAMS 2: A SPRING CHARITY CONCERT happening on 01 April 2016 at The Marian Community Centre, Kilburn Park, London.
London- One more time, talented individuals from different Filipino communities in London are gathering for a charity concert this April 2016. The event is aimed to raise funds for The Cordillera Connection’s (TCC, a registered charity in the UK) Scholarship program at Don Mariano Memorial State University (DMMSU) in La Union and Benguet State University (BSU) in Benguet. Currently, the charity is supporting 40 scholars.
The Charity has also been supporting more than a 100 individuals who have chronic ailment. It has been funding fundraising events for the beneficiaries for their medical needs. Beneficiaries are relieved thru not having to organise events-for-a-cause for themselves. All they do is to sell tickets and keep the sales for their needs. TCC does not take any portion as its commitment. Thru the years, different supporters are taking turns to contribute for the expenses. Thanks to our supportes and sponsors who have been working with us.

The Cordillera Connection (TCC) in collaboration with Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe coordinated a program on the 3rd of October, entitled Philippine Cultural Show 2. The show is aimed to showcase the various cultural dances of the Philippines, at the same time raise funds to support and sustain the education of the charity’s scholars and beneficiaries.
To date, TCC have 40 registered scholars. All of which are from indigenous family with an exemptional academic background. Five amongst them have already graduated last year and are on a job that are able to sustain their own families and some stayed as volunteers of TCC.
On the other hand, there are more than 50 medically ill patients being supported by TCC. A concert for a cause is regularly held in the Philippines with the support of international branch to make it feasible.
The great news is this is another great opportunity for each and everyone to contribute and be a part of this noble cause. Everyone is encouraged to help in every way possible. This can be done by selling and purchasing entrance ticket to the said program, setting up monthly direct debit as little as 1 pound or subscribing to souvenir booklet.
Moreover, this is a show for everyone to enjoy our country’s amazing dances and have a great time.
Since the introduction of TCC Scholarship program, our talented women are behind its success. Our TCC ladies around the world, particularly our staff from UK and Canada are making great effort in working out our program. Their efforts ranges from organising fundraising events to finding sponsors for scholars.
In Canada, our TCC team coordinators Irene Thomas, Grace Marcos and Joves, have successfully introduced TCC to one of Cordilleran organisations there and are able to work out with them to sponsor a TCC scholar.
In London, our talented ladies, the joint effort of ladies of TCC and BMO (Buguias-Mankayan Organisation), have engineered the Binnadang Festival, similar to TCC’s Binnadangan Festival Backhome. It was a hugely successful event aimed to raise funds for the new 6 scholars of BMO. In the video, our ladies shown that they are not only talented in engineering events but also in real stage performance. Kudos to you ladies!
TCC staff in partnership with the Buguias-Mankayan Organisation met on 23 May, 2015 to decide on the applications put forward for the newly opened 5 slots for our scholarship program. Applicants are from different range of inteligence and talents. Some are high school salutatorians, current university student with excellent grades, and some are student leaders. The team decided to dedicate these slots to Buguias and Mankayan applicants as they vowed to continue to support the program. The rest of the applicants will then be opened for sponsorship from TCC’s international supporters. TCC’s international team is currently supporting 22 scholars (previously 27, as 5 have already graduated) at Benguet State University and Don Mariano Memorial State University- La Union. At the meeting, it was decided that 3 scholars will be opened for each of the 2 Municipalities, resulting to a total of 6 new scholarship slots. The team then shortlisted 5 applicants from each of the municipalities for final interview by our TCC- Philippines Chairman, Sir Gregorio Taag, professor at BSU, where the final 3 will be selected. Below are the shorlisted applicants:
As agreed, 3 scholars for each of the two municipalities will be taken. The 2 that will not be taken will be included on the 10 waiting lists who will be offered for sponsorship by our international supporters and donors. The other 10 applicants are:
We are now then asking for anyone who would like to support one of these students so they can have a bright future.
In connection with this project, Buguias-Mankayan Organisation will be holding its BINNADANG FESTIVAL on 13 June 2015, at the Marian Community Centre, Kilburn London NW6 5RS, 6PM. Part of the proceeds of these events will be funding the said scholarship program. The event will feature interesting activities that will surely bring fun to alleviate homesickness and improve camaraderie as well as to promote the spirit of helping within the community: Mr Gay competition is a fun game for men who will spoof real gays in pageant competition. Cultural dances featuring Tinaktkayad, Ginalding and Pattong. The new SUI GENERIS BAND who will bring Folk, Rock, and Country Music.
BINNADANG FESTIVAL- JUNE 23, 2015, 6-12PM, MARIAN COMMUNITY CENTRE, KILBURN NW6 5RS
We are joining the cry of our Filipino Nurses here in the United Kingdom who have been irresponsibly tagged, stereotyped and racially discriminated by the Daily Mail Newspaper in connection with Victorino Chua’s case. We demand public apology. Victorino Chua does not represent the whole Filipino Nurses who are serving as a strong element of the backbone of the NHS as well as in private health sector here in the UK.
TCC SCHOLARS NIMFA SINOSA AND MOM AND FREDALYN BASTIANSCHOLAR NIMFA SHOWING HER TCC CERTIFICATE AND GREETINGS FROM BSU
It was a fulfilling dream that 5 of TCC Scholars at the Benguet State University have graduated from their respective courses. These scholars have been a part of our team in doing our charitable activities. They have played an important role implementing our projects for our beneficiaries. They have always been the last team standing in every event acting as runners and organisers at the same time. Their graduation is a dream fulfilled, but another important fulfillment is the way they have embraced the charity spirit that TCC wanted to impart to them.
Graduating at BSU are scholars:
FATILYN AY-AN, FREDALYN BASTIAN, AND NIMFA SINOSATHE 3 TCC SCHOLARS WITH LAKAY GORIO
Another fullfilled dream is on the side of a TCC Trustee. Our trustee, Ms Judith Angog Cupatan, has been dreaming of marching her children at a graduationg ceremony. Our scholars have finally fulfilled that dream. Flying from thousands of miles from London, England, Judith acted as parents for the scholars. She may not have this opportunity with her own children, but that dream was fulfilled by her second children at TCC, our scholars.
JUDITH AWARDING CERTIFICATE TO FREDALYN BASTIAN ONSTAGE
Judith also witnessed one of our Concert for Life events. It was a moment where she saw how important our charity events to our beneficiaries. Hearing how thankful our beneficiaries are, how they can’t thank enough our initiative, Judith was not able to hold her emotions but to cry out her emotions of joy and fulfillment when she was asked to speak at the concert’s stage.
TCC wishes that more of our OFWs abroad supporting our projects will be able to witness the same fulfillment when they have a chance to visit home. We strongly advice them to approach our Philippine TCC President, Sir Gregorio Taag. We ask them not to miss the chance of witnessing what we have been doing.
